Acting out: get involved in drama at GLYPT
If you think there’s an actor lurking inside you, the first step to take is towards the Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre (GLYPT) at their headquarters on the Royal Arsenal site.
GLYPT has been going for no less than 37 years and welcomes 8 to 19-year-olds to evening drama workshops.
Jack Colgrave-Hirst is a veteran at 17, having joined aged 11, and hopes to go on to drama school. He said:
"My mum and dad are in the industry – dad’s in Hollyoaks at the moment - and I caught it from them.
"I’ve enjoyed it and kept on going. I’ve been in numerous plays and workshops, including filming and writing. Acting is the only thing I want to do, and I’ll keep at it whatever it takes.
"I’ve just finished some monologue work and I really enjoyed it. It could all go completely wrong but hopefully I’ll make it and make lots of money. My parents support me 100 per cent but make it clear that it’s tough."
