FAQ
What can I do if I am a target of racist abuse?
Racist behaviour is illegal and will always be treated seriously by the police. Any incident such as this should be reported to the Police Community Safety Unit, who have officers trained to deal with racist crime. You can contact them directly on 020 8284 9865. If at any time you feel under immediate physical threat, always dial 999 to contact the police.
If you are being targeted by a council tenant, Greenwich Council does not tolerate hate crime and has clear procedures for dealing with this. If you are a council tenant and experiencing racial abuse from your neighbours, you should report it to your local
neighbourhood housing office
.
Other agencies offering support are the Racial Attacks Monitoring Unit who run a 24 hr help line (07956 921 901) offering help and advice to anyone affected by racial abuse. You can also contact Greenwich Victim Support on 020 8854 1113, whether or not a crime has been reported.
