Trips and falls
You may be more likely to fall as you get older, this is because your body may not react as quickly as it used to. It's important to make an action plan of what to do if you should fall.
What to do if you fall
Rest before you try and get up. If you can't get up, call for help by using your alarm if you have one, or by banging on the wall or floor. If you can, crawl over to the phone and call for help.
Keep warm, cover yourself with anything available and tense and flex your arm and leg muscles regularly to produce heat.
Telecare alarm service
If you are worried about getting help after a fall, the Telecare service can provide you with an alarm to be worn on your arm or around your neck, pressing it will alert trained staff at a call centre who will send help.
