Coming to terms with the death of a loved one is very difficult. Even if the person had been ill for some time, you will probably experience a range of emotions after a death.
In the earliest days of your bereavement, ask sombody to help you will the practicalities such as informing friends, registering the death and choosing a funeral director.

You can find information on what to do and who to contact in our death and bereavement section.

Finding it hard to cope?

Grieving is a natural process, you should take as long as you need to come to terms with your loss. Talk to your GP if you are feeling low, depressed or unable to sleep.

If you would like to talk to someone in a similar situation, Greenwich CRUSE can give you information on friendship groups for bereaved people. The Samaritans also offer telephone support 24 hours a day - call 020 8692 5228.
