Areas of work and examples of projects:
Nutrition workshops at day centres, lunch clubs, supported housing units and community-based events.
Healthy living programmes at neighbourhood estate offices, including themed health days to raise awareness of specific health concerns, e.g. heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis.
Monthly health days at the Sikh Temple, Mason’s Hill, Woolwich.
Home visits and nutritional advice to vulnerable, housebound clients.
Workshops with carers’ groups and women’s groups.
Staff and volunteer education and nutrition awareness.
Nutritional analysis of lunch club menus.
Healthy eating demonstrations at Age Concern’s annual ‘Home and Away’ holidays (a successful venture increased to three holidays this year).
