GM foods
Research has shown that the majority of people in the UK are against the development of genetically modified (GM) foods.
In 1999, Greenwich Council agreed to support the Local Government Association’s call for a five-year ban on the development of these foods. We have also removed them from our menus, and regular checks are carried out by Environmental Health Officers to ensure that all food served in the Council’s schools, leisure facilities and social service establishments is GM-free.
