Food labels
There are very strict rules about what manufacturers can and can't say on food labels. For example, a burger cannot be labelled 'Beef Burger' if the beef content is less than 65% lean beef.
This helps consumers make informed choices about what they want to buy. Whether you are vegetarian, on a diet, or simply trying to keep the sugar level down for your kids, read the label!
See left for more detail.
Report a problem
If you think a food label is seriously misleading or a shop is selling goods past the expiry date, get in touch. Call, write or email using the details on the right.
