Home security
Do you worry about your home being broken into? There are simple precautions you can take that will reduce the risk of burglary:
Fit lockable windows.
If you live on the ground floor, fit laminated glass that is harder to break.
Never leave windows open when you go out.
Never leave a spare key under a doormat or in a flowerpot - thieves know all the obvious places.
Fit mortise locks to outside doors.
Install strong fencing and gates.
Use time switches to turn on lights if you are going to be out late.
Fit a burglar alarm.
Where can I find out more?
You can find lots more information about keeping your home safe on the government's
crime reduction
website.
