Hot water cylinder warning
Scalding incidents involving boilers are extremely rare, but to stay safe you should watch out for any of the following warning signs:
Excessively hot water coming from your hot water taps.
Any unusual noises from the hot water cylinder such as banging or bubbling.
Any unexpected excessive heat in your cylinder / airing cupboard.
Hot water coming out of the cold water taps in the bathroom, or toilets flushing with hot water.
Steam or moisture in the roof space.
What should I do?
If you are experiencing any of these warning signs in your home, you should take the following action.
Switch off the immersion heater immediately.
Contact a professional for repair. If you are a Council tenant, ring the repair service on 0208 921 8900 and staff will arrange for a call to be made.
If you have a combination (combi) boiler supplying your hot water, you will not be affected.
