If someone dies without a will
If someone dies in the Borough without a will and with no known blood relations, the Council has a duty to refer the case to the Treasury Solicitor -
Bona Vacanta registry
(Bona Vacanta means vacant goods).
The Treasury Solicitor will then search for blood relatives, using various means at their disposal. If no next of kin are found the monies left go to the state and cannot be accessed for 30 years.
