Sunday trading registration

 
Large shops (those with an internal sales area of over 280sqm) wishing to trade on a Sunday are restricted to a maximum of six hours of trading on that day which must be between 10am and 6pm.

Smaller shops (less than 280sqm) are not covered by these restrictions. Owners of smaller shops can decide their own Sunday opening hours, subject to any planning conditions that may apply.

You do not need to register with us for Sunday trading, however:

  • Large shops need to provide a sign at the store which is visible bother internally and externally, specifying the times of trading between the hours mentioned above.
  • Large stores are still required to remain closed on Easter Sunday (and on Christmas Day when it falls on a Sunday).
