Stage licence
Medical certificates
The health and safety of a child is paramount. To make sure of this, we may require medical certificates to issue a stage licence. See below for details.
Any costs involved in getting a medical certificate should be met by the production company employing the child.
TV and film
If a child is going to perform on TV or film, you must include a medical certificate when applying for a licence.
Broadcast performances
For broadcast performances, such as radio productions, a child can perform for 6 days in a six month period without the need for a medical.
Theatre work
For other performances such as theatre work, if the child takes part on the maximum number of days in the week allowed, i.e. 6 days, and the performances are required for more than one week, we need to see a medical certificate.
Sport and modelling
For sporting activities and modelling, please include a statement from the child's parent saying the child is medically fit for the proposed activity with the original licence application.
Also, check the
stage licence decision table
. It includes information on when you need a certificate.
