How to apply for a Premises Licence

1. Read the available guidance

• Read the Guidance notes about the Licensing Act 2003, relevant to your particular business concerns.
• Read the Guidance documents for applying for a Premises Licence, relevant to your particular line of business.
• Read the Offences document in Guidance notes about the Licensing Act 2003. This fact sheet contains a list of offences that can be committed under the Licensing Act 2003, and the penalties.
• Read the Greenwich Licensing Policy.

2. Appoint a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) if you want to supply or sell alcohol

• You will be asked to name your DPS on the application form. See our Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) page.
• Please note: the Designated Premises Supervisor must be a Personal Licence holder.

3. Fill in the forms

• Complete the application form. You can download this from the The Department for Culture, Media and Sport website, or contact us and we will post one to you.
• The DPS Consent Form must be completed by the nominated DPS. You can download this form from the The Department for Culture, Media and Sport website.

4. Submit your application

• Post the forms to us (see Contact us for the address), with the following documentation:
  • A cheque for the application fee (payable to Greenwich Council) – see the Licensing Act 2003 Fee Schedule.
  • A plan of the premises – see the Submitting a plan page.
• Post a copy of your application forms and premises plan to all the responsible authorities.
