Residents' objections to licensing proposals

Residents can object to licensing applications, as long as they have valid cause for concern and get in touch before the 'last date for representations' has passed (28 days after application is published).

For more details, see New licenses - guide for residents

The hearing

A date will be set for a hearing within 20 days of the representations deadline. You and the objector will be invited to attend the Licensing Sub-Committee meeting and put your case.

Each side has 15 minutes to make their point, the matter will be discussed and then the committee will retire to make a decision. A legal advisor and committee officer will attend.

The Chair will advise you of the decision and tell you how to appeal if you are not happy with it. All the paperwork will be sent out within five days.
