The residents' guide to the Licensing Act

Local residents are invited to comment on the liquor licensing applications we receive for your area. See our Guide for residents for details.

Who needs a licence?

You may need to apply for a licence if you run a business that:

  • provides entertainment
  • supplies alcohol
  • is a night café
  • holds civil wedding ceremonies
  • is sex-related
  • sells things in public places
  • has a gaming or 'fruit machine'
  • holds raffles or lotteries.
This is to ensure that these activites are run safely and in compliance with legal standards. Please follow the links on the left for further information.
