Licence and administration fee
Filming at a Council property
Guideline charges for filming at a Council property:
- Features - £1,000 to £2,000
- Commercials or promotional - £1,000 to £1,500
- TV - £800 to £1,300
- Documentaries or reality TV - £700 to £1,200
- Stills photography - £700 to £1,000
- Night shoots are extra
Filming fees are negotiated on a case by case basis and are very much dependent on the budget of the production and the type of filming taking place. Charges are based on the following criteria:
- type of facility
- size of area
- amount of potential disruption
- time of day and length of time required for filming
- loss of income from public facility where appropriate
- preparation and restoration time
- historic age of building
- access requirements and parking
NOTE: The stature and category of the filming (i.e. documentary, TV drama, feature film, etc) is always considered in setting fees
Street filming
Street filming will only incur a charge where filming involves more than five crew members and entails dressing of the street - including the use of structures on a highway where control is required.

Parking costs for film makers
All requests incur a £30 Parking Department administration cost
- Meters/residents' bays - first day £59 per bay, subsequent consecutive days £30 per day
- Single yellow lines - dispensations £30
A minimum of ten working days' notice is required for the suspension of residents' bays
A minimum of three working days' notice is required for parking suspensions in metered bays and dispensations for single yellow lines.
