Information for suppliers
Contracts management and monitoring
The Council's central aim of contract management is to make sure that the works, services or supplies you are contracted for are delivered on time, and according to the contract specification at the price agreed in the contract.
The Council and suppliers will also work to achieve continuous improvement in performance over the life of the contract.
For this to happen, it is important that time and care is taken to draw up a contract that is sufficiently flexible to accommodate changes. It is also important that there is good communication between the Council and the contractor.
Health and safety, equalities and sustainability issues will be taken into consideration when monitoring and managing contracts. You can read more about the Council's requirements in these areas on the links in the left menu.
The monitoring process
Once your contract with the Council has started, we will work with you to make sure that the contract is a success for both parties.
Performance measurement
We will build performance measurement procedures into our contract with you, and we will take on board suggestions that you make during the bidding process. We will work with you to make sure that obligations on both sides are met as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Supervising officer
A contract supervising officer will work closely with you. You and the Council will need to share responsibility for monitoring the contract, and for taking action if necessary to ensure that an efficient, effective service is maintained. We believe that good communication is key to meeting contract objectives and minimising problems.
Evaluation
We will regularly evaluate your performance and give you feedback. Performance meetings will also allow you to give us us feedback so we can improve our performance.
Payment
Although payment and invoicing arrangements will differ for each contract, we will always endeavour to pay you within 30 days of receipt of a correct invoice.
