Direct debits

This is the simplest and cheapest way to pay your bill, provided you have a bank or suitable Building Society account.

How to arrange a direct debit

You need to complete a 'mandate' form and send it to the business rates section. This mandate remains valid for as long as you want it to.

How to obtain a mandate form

A mandate form comes with your non-domestic rates bill. Alternatively, you can ask the business rates section to send one to you.

What happens next?

We send you a bill, which tells you what your installments will be.

You need take no further action once the mandate is completed and returned to us.

What happens if the amount of your bill changes?

The Council has to tell you in advance what the amount will be that it intends to collect from your bank account each month. We will let you know at the start of each new financial year if the monthly amount we will collect has to change.

Cancelling your direct debit

You can cancel the mandate at any time if you want to. To do this you should contact your bank, and also contact us.
