Olympics opportunity for B&B owners

Ever thought about opening up a bed and breakfast?
The 2012 Games are only four years away and the Council, the Tourist Information Centre and a whole range of other organisations are on hand to help you make the most of the opportunity.

At a recent free workshop for Bed and Breakfast owners, visitors picked up practical tips from experienced people in the trade and from business development organisations based all over London.

The workshop provided helpful advice and information such as:

  • how to become star-rated
  • how to generate income
  • how to take advantage of opportunities such as the 2012 Olympics.
There was also advice on other topics including health and safety, fire safety and planning regulations.

Following the success of the workshop, you can get support for your business by contacting the Business Support Service.

Supporting local businesses

Deputy Council Leader, Peter Brooks, Cabinet Member Responsible for Tourism said: "Greenwich Council wants to support bed and breakfast providers, and other local businesses, as the interest in Greenwich grows in the run up to 2012. We want to make sure that they benefit from the growth of tourism.

"The Olympic and Paralympic Games are expected to generate more than £2 billion to the visitor economy of London. This is why we are providing information and advice through a number of initiatives, such as our tourism-advice workshops, to encourage better business and see that Greenwich makes the most of the huge benefits the Games will bring."
