War Pensions
You may be able to claim a War Pension if you have a disability or an illness caused or made worse by serving in the armed forces or resulting from an injury received during the Second World War.
If your husband or wife died as a result of a disability or an illness for which she or he claimed, or could have claimed a War Pension, you may be able to claim a War Widow's or Widower's Pension.
The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme has replaced the War Pensions scheme for armed services personnel for whom injury, illness or death is caused by service on or after 6 April 2005. You will not be affected by the new scheme if:
you are already getting a War Pension (you will continue to receive it)
your claim relates to service in the Armed Forces before 6 April 2005.
How to claim
Contact The Veterans Agency, Norcross, Blackpool, FY5 3WP, or ring the Veterans Help Line on freephone 0800 169 2277 or 0800 169 3458 (for textphone users).
