Maternity Allowance
If you cannot get Statutory Maternity Pay and have been in recent work (including from self employment) you may be able to claim Maternity Allowance.
How much will I get?
Maternity Allowance is paid for up to 39 weeks.
The allowance is worth up to 90% of your earnings or £117.18 a week (whichever is less).
How do I claim?
Contact Jobcentre Plus for a claim form.
When you have filled in the claim form, return it with medical evidence of when the baby is due and any other information required.
What if I am not entitled?
Even if you cannot get Maternity Allowance you may be able to get other benefits such as:

Housing Benefit
Council Tax Benefit
