Tax credits for people in work

Many people in work miss out on tax credits and benefits they can claim. For example, you may get Working Tax Credit if you work:

  • 30 hours a week if you are 25 or over

  • or 16 hours a week regardless of age if you have children or a disability.

Help with childcare costs

Working Tax Credit can also help with registered childcare costs and if you have children you can get child tax credit.

Help with housing costs

You may also be able to get help with rent and Council Tax depending on your income, savings and circumstances. This is called the Housing and Council Tax Benefit.

Don't miss out

The Council wants to make sure that local people are claiming all their full tax credits and benefits.
