Teach the Games

Race on an athletics track On Your Marks: Find out more about sport and the 2012 Games
Do you want to know more about the Olympic and Paralympic Games? Are you a teacher intending to plan lessons or activities around the Games, or a young person wanting to learn more about sport?

If so, then On Your Marks is the website to visit. It's full of factsheets for schoolchildren as well as teaching ideas for pupils aged 7 to 11 and 11 to 14.

Visit www.london2012.com/onyourmarks.

Teaching ideas

The materials available from the website include news articles, fact sheets and an image bank covering a wide range of topics which can be used in subjects right across the curriculum.

There are also cross-curricular teaching hints to give teachers ideas as to how they might use these resources within the classroom. Teachers can even submit their own ideas of ways to use the materials.

More to come

This resource is the first step of the London 2012 Education Programme. In the lead up to 2012 they aim to deliver a comprehensive programme which will encompass a wide range of projects and initiatives and engage children and young people across the UK and the world.
