Remembering the 1948 Olympic Games

 
Do you have memories of the London Olympic Games in 1948?

The Council is teaming up with the Greenwich Heritage Centre to create a living record of memories from residents who were living or working in the borough at the time. The long-term idea is to try to form a '48' Society from people who come forward.

We would like to hear from you if you were involved in the run-up to the 1948 Games, if you took part or were a spectator, or even if you have Games memorabilia that you would like to donate to the local archives.

Memoryshare

The Heritage Centre, working the Firepower! exhibition and local libraries, started the ball rolling on Beijing flag-handover day on August Bank Holiday Sunday. They were at Eltham Library and The O2 asking visitors to add their details to a People’s Record being organised nationally by the Museums Libraries and Archives Council.

All the comments collected on the cards will form part of a BBC Memoryshare project - a growing collection of living memories from the 1900s to the present day.
