An exhibition to promote Greenwich as a world-class destination was launched on Thursday 14 August at Longtanhu Park, Beijing, the home of the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2008.
The five-day exhibition, organised by the Council and other organisations based in Greenwich, was jointly hosted with the People's Government of Chongwen District and coincided with the launch of the new 'Destination Greenwich' website.

Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony for the exhibition saw the exchange of a Friendship and Cooperation Memorandum between Greenwich Council and Chongwen District Government.
The exhibition aims to promote Greenwich as a world-class destination for visitors, students and businesses. Organisers are confident that the exhibition, and other events aimed at promoting Greenwich during the period of the 2008 Beijing Games, will help to attract inward investment from Chinese firms, particularly in Greenwich's fast-growing cultural and creative sectors.
Wonderful opportunity
Council Leader, Chris Roberts said: "Greenwich is a destination whose name is recognised around the world as the home of time. Our heritage, our architecture and our open spaces help us to attract more than 9 million visitors each year.
"The 'Destination Greenwich' exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and others to talk direct with the businesses, educational institutions and political leaders who are helping to take Greenwich forward into the 21st century. We are happy to welcome visitors from all parts of the world to our exhibition, and to talk with them about Greenwich and what it has to offer.
"We are grateful to the People's Government of Chongwen District for their support in jointly hosting this exhibition, and for their hospitality to the Greenwich delegation. We have already held extremely fruitful discussions about the cultural, economic and educational links that can be built between our two communities, and look forward to a strong and friendly relationship for years to come."
