Greenwich stakeholders' conference

The second London 2012 stakeholders' conference took place on 23 June 2006. Key speakers looked to the past for lessons learnt, updated the masterplan and outlined future plans for making the 2012 Games a success.
Towards the end of the conference, stakeholders representing businesses and community groups raised questions in a question and answer session.

About the conference

The Council held its first conference on the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralaympic Games on 3 February 2006.

At the conference, the Council:

  • outlined its plans to make the most of the opportunities that the 2012 Games would bring
  • announced the new Olympic Unit, which will co-ordinate activities across the borough
  • revealed the plans already under way to host high-profile sporting events in the years leading up to London 2012.
Businesses, community groups and the borough's political leaders also pledged to work together to ensure maximum benefits for Greenwich.

A workshop session was then conducted, in which stakeholders in eight separate groups shared their views on where they think Greenwich is headed in six months, six years, and beyond the 2012 Games.
