Volleyball (Paralympic)

Players of Paralympic volleyball have to remain in the 'sit' position - that is, with buttocks to the ground - throughout the game. For this reason, Paralympic volleyball is also known as Sit volleyball.

Like volleyball, the aim is to take points by getting the ball grounded in the opposing team's court.

The court, however, is considerably smaller at 10 x 6 metres. This ensures a fast pace of play.

Moving around

Players can use their hands and feet to move around, usually by sliding.

The only time that lifting of buttocks is permitted is when diving for the ball.

Where?

Paralympic volleyball events will take place in Greenwich Arena, one of the venues in Greenwich Peninsula.
